5 Valentine’s Gift Ideas for the Busy Girl (and some more!)

Ah, young love, old love. Especially new love. Certainly in new love there may be an expectation to surprise your significant other with a gift. Without much ado, welcome to my His and Hers Guide to Valentines Gifts for the busy girl. While I’m not one for V-day myself, I still enjoy the special Valentine’s collections that chocolate, flower and jewellery shops collate, and have gotten myself a little enamel heart from Pandora already.

What if you’ve been dating for not that long, and you don’t want to come off as overly serious, but serious enough to celebrate V-day? Or what if you’re not really into the hype of it all, yet still love the bold colours that this Hallmark season exudes? This gift guide takes care of that, coming up with his and her gift ideas that you can celebrate together or by yoursel, or with friends. Whether you’re a lady with a special manfriend or a special ladyfriend that you want to celebrate this February 14th, check out this gift edit for the gift that says a lot, without screaming from the rooftops.

Even if you’re unattached, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t take advantage of the bold or feminine colours and gifts of the commercialised Valentine’s Hype. Why not use this as an excuse to treat yourself or any form of loved one?

I’m setting this post out in two sections: firstly objects that I recommend specifically, and secondly, stuff in lists so you can go have a look for yourself with links.

If you’re looking to gift jewellery which is at the same time meaningful, try Pandora’s 2016 Valentines Collection. This is something that she’ll be wearing all year round, and the colours evoke traditional Valentine’s colours. I love the bold hot pink of the enamel heart with the heart key charm from their permanent collection.

Wanting that special someone to know that you notice all the little things about them? Get your loved one their favourite nailpolish as a treat. I’ve pictured three of my favourite Valentines-themed colours here: Essie in ‘Forever Yummy’, Essie in ‘Bachelorette Bash’, and Revlon in ‘Teak Rose.’ This is not only an inexpensive present, it’s also something they can wear all year round and is meaningful.

Do you love creating memories with your SO? Whilst phone cameras are great in today’s world, evoke a bit of 90s nostalgia with the Instax Mini 8 instant camera. It’s cheaper than a Polaroid camera, and comes in a range of cute colours: pink, mint, purple, black, while and yellow. Pink it up at Myer for $99.00AUD, Target for $89.00AUD or JB Hi-Fi for $99.00.

For the bookworm close to your heart, try a gripping tale which will leave them thanking you. Try the New Zealand bestseller The Luminaries, or Donna Tartt’s Goldfinch. The polishes pictured are Essie in Maximillian Strasse-Her, and Essie in Hide-and-Go Chic, both $16.95 at Priceline.

Valentine’s colours don’t have to be the ye olde pink – go for the calming hue of blues to create a meaningful message or a pop of colour.

For the discerning man in your mind, any offering from L’Occitane’s men’s range is my favourite. Try the Baux After-Shave balm here, and add in a Bergamote parfum soap which is gender neutral.

For chocolates, you can’t go wrong with some classic Haighs’. Ii’d reccomend the assorted milk and dark chocolate hearts which you can pick up for $7.95 in store or here.

My other fave, which I can vouch for to be beautiful in both texture and presentation is a chcoolate set from Winnow. Their valentines orders need to be in by 11th of February! Try their trademark Pink Ombre white chocolate set for $11.55, or shop around the Valentine’s collection here.

Chocolates are our best friends. Who actually needs V-day as an excuse to get themselves some? Haigh’s champagne truffles are amazing enjoyed by yourself – honestly, why should you have to share?

For your average chocolate-and-flowers action, try Little Flowers Australia. These guys will deliver a different bunch of flowers to a given address, same-day for $30.00 AUD!

For a grand gesture a la Chuck Bass to Blair Waldorf, try Pretty Little Flowers. Their boxes plus postage are about $180.00 AUD to $200.00 AUD here. Have a look at the Marie Antoinette, pictured on Pretty Little Flowers’ instagram below.
